1. What types of services are available?
We're a full-service transmission, automotive, and Smog Inspection shop. We perform Smog inspections for your DMV renewal. Also, if you think you are having a problem with your transmission we will perform a full diagnostic test to determine if you will need an external repair or adjustment, have electronic problems, or may need a rebuilt transmission.

2. What if I need my vehicle towed from another location?
No problem! We know how stressful it is to be stranded somewhere. That's why we can arrange towing for you. It's also included free of charge with major repairs. Plus, we can arrange a rental car for you as well and get you on your way. Simply give us a call at (209) 526-1909.

3. How often should I have my transmission checked?
We recommend having your transmission checked once a year so that you get any problems fixed before they worsen.

4. How long does it take to have my transmission checked?
Having your transmission checked usually takes about 30 minutes and includes checking the level and condition of the transmission fluid, a diagnosis of the external transmission controls and a road test. Minor services can be performed the same day.

5. Do I need to make an appointment?
We recommend scheduling an appointment as our shop can fill up fast. Our shop's hours are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, by appointment on Saturdays from 9am-1pm. Call us at (209) 526-1909.

6. How do I know if I have a transmission problem?
Look for the following warning signs: problems while changing gears, noises from the transmission, problems when the car reaches extreme temperatures (either hot or cold), leaking, burnt, or discolored transmission fluid, fluid spots on ground, and problems when stopping or accelerating.
7. Is there anything I can check myself?
Look for obstructions near the radiator and air ducts. Check the ground for transmission fluid leaks. Make sure the fluid does not smell burnt.

8. How much will the service cost?
Before any work is done, we will provide you with a detailed estimate. The cost also depends on the type of problem your vehicle has. However, most transmissions have over 2,000 parts these days, so the problem can’t always be determined immediately.
After performing an external diagnostic and understanding exactly what’s wrong with your vehicle we’ll be able to tell you whether you need minor repairs, work on the computer or internal transmission repair.

9. How long does it take for a transmission repair?
Fortunately we have a professional staff of technicians and 20 service bays for faster service. Minor services can be performed the same day. A rebuilt transmission can take several days so that your transmission can be properly removed, reconditioned or rebuilt, and reinstalled. However, we recommend making an appointment by calling (209) 526-1909.

10. I hear a noise when I am driving. Could this be an indication of a transmission problem?
Any noise coming from the transmission is a sign that you may have a transmission problem. If you hear a “clanking” while changing gears or a “clicking”, you may have a transmission problem. Check your transmission fluid level to see if it is full and if that doesn’t fix the problem; you may need to bring your vehicle to our shop.

11. How do I know the transmission is good on a used car I want to purchase?
Always ask the dealer or seller for a maintenance record. Before test driving it, shift through all the gears (with your foot on the brake) and make sure there is no slippage or jerking. If it takes more than a second for the gear to engage, the transmission is possibly worn. While testing a manual transmission, shift into neutral and put on the parking brake. While the engine is idling, press and release the clutch pedal to make sure there aren't any noises.

12. What kind of warranty comes with a rebuilt transmission?
We offer a standard 12-month/12,000 mile nationwide warranty on rebuilt transmissions.
We also offer and honor Automobile Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) nationwide warranties on all makes and models up to 24 months or 24,000 miles.

13. What is the difference between a basic service and a complete flush?
On a basic service the pan is removed, cleaned & reinstalled with fluid. Most transmissions only allow you to change about 4-5 quarts of fluid with this method, while they hold about 12-14 quarts. With a flushing machine, we are able to change all of the fluid & filter on most cars & light trucks.

14. Should I have the filter changed when servicing the transmission?
Yes, most flushing machines flush through the cooler lines and the pan is not removed to change the filter. We remove the pan and change or clean the filter. You wouldn't change your engine oil without changing your filter, nor should you with your transmission.

15. If I have a minor transmission problem, can it hurt my car to keep driving it?
You can, but minor problems may turn into major ones with continued driving. Plus, it can be potentially dangerous as a break down may occur leaving you stranded in a remote place. Bringing your vehicle to our shop now may save you hundreds of dollars and the hassle of a rebuilt transmission.
