MAINTENANCE TIPS

• Change your fluid regularly. Not changing it according to the recommendations in your owner’s manual can lead to transmission failure.
• Check ground for transmission fluid leaks.
• Make sure the fluid does not smell burnt.
• Check all your hoses and belts regularly, if they are cracked worn, or bulging, replace them.

Also, mileage isn't the best indicator of potential transmission problems. Rather, it is the number of times the transmission goes through its start-up and shift cycles. Excessive heat or cold, problems with snow or ice, towing, and driving at steep inclines can all adversely affect your transmissions performance.

Driving in any of the above conditions (such as commuting to the Bay Area) would mean your car isn't driving in "normal" conditions according to your owner's manual and would need more frequent maintenance checks.

HOW TO CHECK YOUR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

Refer to your owner’s manual! There are too many different ways to check it nowadays. Some vehicles need to be hot, some need to be checked when the car is on, and others need to be in neutral. To be safe, we offer a fluid level check for free, so please just drive by and we will be happy to do this for you!

Transmission fluid is normally transparent and pink. There shouldn't be any black deposits, dirt or metal. If you notice such deposits, a brownish or red color, or if it smells burnt it's time to see us.

Don't have time? One of our technicians would be happy to check it for you. For your convenience, we offer "Early Bird" drop-off. Simply park your car near our entrance, put your keys in our special envelope and drop it into the "Early Bird” slot. Most routine maintenance can be done the same day.

DRIVING SAFETY TIPS

• Be sure to have your insurance policy information and important phone numbers in your glove box.
• Keep both hands on the wheel, especially if driving in rain or other hazardous conditions.
• Don’t eat, talk on your cellular phone or put on makeup while behind the wheel.
• Airbags can be hazardous to young or short children, please place them in the backseat
• Make sure your spare tire is ready to go, including your jack. Check the tires for wear.
• Do you know what kind of transmission fluid your car takes? Check your owners' manual or, just ask one of our certified technicians when you bring in your car.
